The Parents and Friends of Bruce Monroe Committee organizes events to raise money to purchase equipment, goods or projects for the school that they may not be able to fund themselves or require extra funding.
Bruce Monroe does not have a PTA, instead, there is a committee of volunteer parents, teachers and some elected school staff representatives. The Committee meets every week, depending on activities, in the school Parenting Center. They organize events that include Community Nights, Academic Workshops and 'PULGUEROS'- FLEE MARKET. These events are listed in the School Weekly Bulletin as well as posters around the school. The committee also runs a uniform drive every year where students and parents have a chance to get uniforms and coats for the school year.
The Bruce Monroe Parents and Friends Committee is always on the lookout for new committee members, especially parents, or even friends that are willing to add their names to a helpers rota. For more information please contact our PARENT COORDINATOR: Lilian Hernandez.

The Telling Stories Project
Community Building: Tellin' Stories creates opportunities for families across race, class, language and cultural boundaries to connect to each other and to their school--often for the first time--through the power of story. In our Story Quilting series, each participant shares a story from his/her history and culture on a felt square. As the squares are sewn together, so too are the lives of those who made them.
Through cross-city parent leadership training and coaching, Tellin' Stories is helping to mobilize highly qualified and committed parent center coordinators and leaders who are eager to strengthen their own family-school programs.
